Pet ownership Incursion

On the 16th of November Foundation Students participated in a valuable learning experience of the Pet ownership incursion. Students were involved in many discussions about the responsibility of owning a pet and how to care for them. It was a great experience for the Foundation students to also learn about be safe around strange dogs, they learnt a chant to remind them of what to do if they would like to pat a dog they don’t know and also what do to if they are frightened by an angry dog. It was an exciting and valuable lesson for all involved!

3-Dimensional Shapes

In term 4, Foundation Students learned about 3-Dimensional shapes and objects in their environment. They engaged in hands on activities which explored the properties of 3-Dimensional shapes and participated in discussions that required them to talk about and describe common 3-Dimensional shapes. Activities included guess my shape, where a student selects a 3D shape from a bag and describes it to the class. Students take turns to guess what the 3-Dimensional shape is. Other activities included using materials such magnetic tiles to build common 3D shapes and objects in our environment.

Grade 2 Gymnastics Unlimited Excursion

As part of our Integrated Studies unit of learning on Forces: Push and Pull, the grade two students had the opportunity to put their learning into practice by manipulating a range of gymnastics equipment and spaces. Students had two consecutive, rotational sessions and were able to use equipment such as beams, rings, ropes and trampolines to balance, hold, push and pull and make rotations with their body. Students had so much fun in their small groups and worked out a big sweat by the end of the sessions. The staff at Gymnastics Unlimited were very helpful and supportive and did a thorough job of working out a program to meet our learning needs. We look forward to participating in this excursion next year with our future grade 2s.
